Term 10 : Surah al-Hujurat
About Course
This comprehensive Arabic grammar course offers a detailed linguistic study of Surah Al-Hujurat, one of the Qur’an’s most profound chapters on manners, social conduct, and community relations. Through a verse-by-verse analysis, students will explore the intricate grammatical structures, morphological patterns, and rhetorical features that contribute to the chapter’s powerful message and eloquence.
The course combines the study of Nahw (Arabic syntax) and Ṣarf (Arabic morphology), enabling students to understand how grammatical choices shape meaning within the text. Students will analyze sentence structures, verb forms, noun patterns, pronouns, particles, conditional constructions, vocatives, and other advanced grammatical features found throughout the sūrah.
Particular attention will be given to the recurring expressions such as يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا, the use of commands and prohibitions, conditional sentences, emphasis, and the grammatical nuances that enhance the moral and legal guidance contained within the chapter. Students will also examine selected rhetorical and stylistic elements to appreciate the linguistic beauty of the Qur’an.
By engaging directly with the Qur’anic text, students will strengthen their ability to perform grammatical analysis (iʿrāb), recognize morphological patterns, and derive meaning from authentic Arabic sources.
