Term 10 : Advanced Sarf
About Course
This advanced Arabic grammar course provides an in-depth study of key topics in Ṣarf (Arabic morphology), focusing on the patterns and rules governing weak and irregular words and verbs. Students will explore the principles of إعلال (phonological changes) and إبدال (letter substitution) and learn how these processes affect word formation across various morphological patterns.
The course examines the major categories of weak and irregular verbs, including مهموز, مضاعف, مثال, أجوف, ناقص, and لفيف. Through detailed analysis and practical exercises, students will learn to identify root letters, recognize morphological changes, derive verb forms, and correctly conjugate verbs in different tenses and patterns.
Emphasis is placed on understanding the reasons behind morphological transformations, enabling students to read classical Arabic texts with greater accuracy and confidence. By the end of the course, students will possess a strong foundation in advanced Ṣarf and be able to analyze complex word structures independently.
