About Course

This advanced online Arabic grammar course is designed for students who have already mastered foundational and intermediate grammar and wish to explore the deeper grammatical and stylistic features of the Arabic language. The course focuses on a selection of advanced concepts that play a significant role in classical Arabic literature, Qur’anic Arabic, Islamic texts, and eloquent Arabic expression.

Students will study Taqdīm and Ta’khīr (advancement and postponement), learning how word order is manipulated to achieve emphasis, exclusivity, rhetorical effect, and stylistic elegance. The course also examines verbs of praise and blame (أفعال المدح والذم), enabling students to understand their structures, grammatical rules, and usage in both classical and modern contexts.

Further topics include Takhṣīṣ (specification) and Istithnā’ (exception), where students will learn how Arabic narrows, qualifies, or excludes meaning through various grammatical constructions. The course also explores Qaṣr and Ḥaṣr (restriction and exclusivity), helping students recognize and analyze expressions that limit a ruling, attribute, or action to a specific subject or object.

In addition, students will study verbs of amazement (أسلوب التعجب) and learn how Arabic expresses wonder, admiration, and astonishment through established grammatical patterns. Throughout the course, learners will examine authentic examples drawn from the Qur’an, Hadith, classical Arabic prose, and poetry, gaining practical experience in identifying and interpreting these advanced structures.

Through detailed explanations, guided text analysis, practical exercises, and sentence parsing activities, students will develop a deeper understanding of how grammar and rhetoric work together to convey meaning and emphasis. The course emphasizes not only grammatical accuracy but also appreciation of the stylistic and rhetorical beauty of the Arabic language.

By the end of the course, students will possess the analytical skills needed to recognize and interpret advanced grammatical constructions, understand their rhetorical functions, and apply them when reading and studying sophisticated Arabic texts. This course is ideal for advanced learners of Arabic, students of Qur’anic and Islamic studies, and anyone seeking a richer understanding of Arabic grammar and eloquence.
